Nichola Diment – Double Running Buggy Mum!

Hello there Funky Folks. Nichola here, one of the very proud and lucky ambassadors for Funky Sportswear!

I’m honoured to write this blog as part of International Women’s Week, celebrating all those wonderful women who have made history for a whole variety of reasons. Well, I’m a woman, and here is a little bit about me and my journey…

My friends have always thought I am a bit barmy, but in a good way! I studied Photography at Northumbria University and became a photographer afterwards. I knew I wanted more in life and decided I wanted a challenge, so off I went to join the Royal Air Force.

I served in Afghanistan twice and loved the job but I didn’t want to leave my children anymore, and so I left after seven and a half years to start a new chapter in the Civil Service.

I love sport, especially running, cycling and kettle bells. In fact I’d spend all day exploring outside or climbing a mountain if I could. I certainly do love a challenge and have completed many including; cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in eight days, a skydive and many mountain climbs, including the Three Peak Challenge in 24 hours (twice and my first time when I was 16 years old).

During lockdown I bought a double running buggy and found that I was able to keep up a good level of fitness by taking the kids with me. I ran a virtual marathon only a few weeks ago and also a half with the buggy. It really is something I am so passionate about and feel like I should shout from the rooftops about buggy running. As a mum of three, three c-sections and on maternity with a nine-month old in lockdown, it has been truly amazing and has kept my mental health strong as well as my body.

When I was asked to be an ambassador for Funky Sportswear I was absolutely overjoyed. The gear is amazing quality, colourful, fun and perfect for brightening up all of my fitness activities. I get so many nice comments. I mean, they make an Um Bongo running vest! Need I say more? This happens to be one of the few songs I know all the words to for absolutely no reason at all!

You could say, I love the brand – and I think you will too!
